Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how DMCA Detector (“we”, “us”, “the Service”) handles information when you use the website and related Netlify-hosted API endpoints. The Service helps you look up Google Search copyright-removal (DMCA) request metadata for domains you submit.
1. Who we are
DMCA Detector is operated by the publisher of this website (“the operator”). The Service is provided for informational domain-monitoring use as described in these pages.
2. What this Service does
When you check domains, your browser sends those domain names to our serverless function. The function queries publicly available Google Transparency Report APIs and, when you enable optional enrichment, the Lumen Database API (including with a Lumen API token you supply). Results are returned to your browser for display and optional export.
3. Information we process
3.1 Information you provide
- Domain names you paste, upload, or ask the Service to check.
- Optional preferences such as whether to include Lumen enrichment or related domains.
- Optional Lumen API token you paste when enabling filtered URLs & jurisdiction. The token is transmitted to our serverless function solely to fulfill that check against Lumen, and is not stored in our product database.
3.2 Information stored on your device
- Preference cookies / storage (only if you opt in): saved domain list, checkbox preferences, and previously seen request IDs used to highlight new notices. Details are in the Cookie Policy.
- Consent cookie: records whether you accepted or declined preference storage.
- Session storage for a Lumen API token (optional): if you enable filtered Lumen details, your token may be kept in browser session storage for the current tab only (cleared when the tab/window closes). It is not written to preference cookies.
3.3 Information processed by hosting infrastructure
The website and API are hosted on Netlify. Like most web hosts, Netlify may process technical request data (for example IP address, user agent, timestamps, and URLs) in server logs and platform telemetry for security, reliability, and abuse prevention. Request bodies that include a Lumen token may transit that infrastructure. See Netlify’s Privacy Policy.
3.4 Third-party data sources
- Google Transparency Report — queried for copyright-removal request metadata related to the domains you submit.
- Lumen Database — optionally queried for notice details such as URLs and jurisdiction. When you supply a Lumen API token, Lumen processes API authentication and notice lookups under Lumen’s terms and policies.
Those providers process the domain / notice identifiers (and, where applicable, API credentials) needed to fulfill your request under their own terms and policies.
4. Purpose and legal bases
We process information to:
- Provide the domain-check functionality you request;
- Perform optional Lumen enrichment you explicitly enable with your own API token;
- Remember your domains and options when you consent to preference storage;
- Operate, secure, and troubleshoot the Service;
- Comply with legal obligations where applicable.
Where GDPR or similar laws apply, the bases are typically performance of a contract / requested service for checks you initiate, consent for preference cookies and local storage, and legitimate interests in running a secure hosted service.
5. What we do not do
- We do not sell personal data.
- We do not use advertising trackers or third-party marketing pixels on this site.
- We do not create user accounts.
- We do not intentionally collect special-category data.
- We do not permanently store your Lumen API token in a Service database.
6. Retention
- Domain lists and preference cookies: up to 365 days, or until you clear them / withdraw consent.
- Seen-request IDs in local storage: until cleared or consent is withdrawn.
- Lumen API token in session storage: until the browser tab/session ends, you remove it, or you withdraw preference consent (which also clears it).
- Server logs retained by Netlify according to Netlify’s practices.
- API requests are processed transiently to return results; this Service does not maintain a product database of your domain lists or API tokens.
7. International transfers
Hosting and upstream APIs may process data in the United States or other countries. If you access the Service from the EEA/UK/Switzerland, this may involve transfers outside your region, subject to the safeguards used by those providers.
8. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent. Because preference data lives primarily in your browser, you can usually exercise control by:
- Using Cookie settings on the site (footer) and choosing “Essential only”;
- Clearing saved domains in the checker;
- Clearing site cookies and local storage in your browser.
For other privacy requests that cannot be handled in your browser, contact the site operator through any contact channel they publish with this deployment (if provided). You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
9. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 16. Do not use it if you are under the age required by law in your jurisdiction to consent to online services.
10. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy where permitted by law.
